UKM-Nippon Foundation endowment fund (The Institute of Malaysian and International Studies (IKMAS)-Nippon Foundation Young Scholar Fellowship programme)

Miss Izzah Nur Zulaikha Muharram Rachman Masjhur, a postgraduate student from FSG was one of the five selected participants in the IKMAS-Nippon Foundation Young Fellowship programme for 2020 session. The programme was first introduced in October 2017 with the objective to provide young scholars from CLMV/ASEAN Countries with an opportunity to interact with Fellows from the Institute of Malaysian and International Studies (IKMAS) and academic staffs of National University of Malaysia (UKM) on research areas of their interest. The chosen topics must be related to ASEAN Integration. For the 2020 term, which ran from 7 to 18 September 2020, the participants were introduced to the IKMAS community and took part in online classes during the first week. The classes covered topics on ASEAN ranging from political security, economic community, economic diplomacy and socio cultural. During the second week, the participants performed research work and went to a field trip to Terengganu to explore the culture and history of the beautiful state. At the end of the programme, the students submitted their articles on their research work for publication. Izzah who was supervised by Prof. Dr. Sufian Jusoh had successfully produced an article on “The Needs of an Accredited Non-destructive Testing Training Centre for ASEAN Countries”.
