Introduction: Olanzapine is a second generation of Antipsychotic that can be used in the treatment of Schizophrenia. Out-patient Pharmacy of Selayang Hospital refers to three types of resources to guide doctors in prescribing this type of drugs. As a pharmacist they can only give a recommendation of a certain dose to the doctors, but it is entirely up to doctors whether to follow the guideline or not. Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the usage of Olanzapine in treating patient with schizophrenia. Patients that have been diagnosed with schizophrenia and treated with Olanzapine were evaluated during our attachment at the Out-Patient Pharmacy Department of Hospital Selayang from December 2010 to February 2011.Methodology: A survey containing data collection was used to collect the essential data about the patients that undergoing the treatment of Olanzapine for schizophrenia. Then data was transferred to Social Sciences (SPSS) Software version 19.0 to be analyzed and finalized in the form of chart, tabulations and graph. Result: The highest age of patient treated with Olanzapine was male patients from the age of 20 to 29 and most of them were Malays (51 %). Out of 113 patients, only 9 of them have a family history. Olanzapine was most prescribed on night with 10mg dose strength and most patients being treated for about 8 weeks which is considered as maintenance dose. Conclusion: Based on this study, it can be concluded that 10mg is the most dost prescribed to patient. This research has proved that patient's age, gender, race and whether the patients have a family history or not, it has nothing to do with the dose that should be prescribed to them.
