Knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) of immunization among patients in the Outpatient Pharmacy Department of PPUKM

The knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) of patients toward immunization had been observed. The study focused on the practice of immunization among patients to prevent infectious disease and factors that contribute to this practice. This research was carried out at the Outpatient Pharmacy Department of PPUKM from November, 2016 till January, 2017. Our subjects were mainly focused on patients who visited Outpatient Pharmacy of PPUKM. We distributed the questionnaire form which consisted of 32 questions altogether randomly to the patients. After 3 months of distributing the questionnaire, we finally managed to get a total of 1000 filled questionnaire forms. Each of the questionnaire forms had been reviewed and all the data collected were keyed in into the SPSS software version 23.0. All the data then were analysed and expressed in either table form or graph form for result presentation.
We predicted that majority of the patients are aware about vaccine. Plus, we also expected that patients with higher education and basic health knowledge tend to have a greater awareness of immunization compared to those with lower education and basic health knowledge. Overall, despite its benefits to the patients, this research might also be useful for further awareness programme for pharmacy staff of PPUKM in the future.
