Drive Through Pharmacy System: a study on patient's knowledge, acceptance and satisfaction at Hospital Sultan Abdul Halim

The Drive-Through Pharmacy System was one of the Value Added Service (VAS) that was introduced by Ministry of Health (MOH) in Malaysia as an initiative to enhance the medication delivery to patient. The Drive-Through Pharmacy System was first started in 2015 at Hospital Sultan Abdul Halim. Their main goals are to improve patients waiting time at the Out-Patient department for patients with repeated prescriptions by preparing their medications in advance before the time collection. With the help of this system, it is hoped that it will increase patient's satisfaction, hence increase patients compliance to take their medication especially patients with a time constraint.
For the time being, there is a study about medication dispensing efficiency and convenience of patients who take their medication at drive-through pharmacy counter at HSAH. Therefore, we conduct a simple study to have a rough picture about the same system but to investigate the level patient knowledge and their satisfaction about this system.
A cross-sectional study was conducted on I00 patients randomly from a drive through counter that had used the out-patient service Hospital Sultan Abdul Halim using a survey form. The duration of the study was started from November 2017 to February 2018. Our findings have demonstrated that the system as a whole is beneficial to the patients by having a good and satisfying service.
