Abstract

Introduction
Medication return is encouraged because proper drug disposing method is important not only for environment safety but also for medication user themselves and also people around them. Storing unwanted or expired medications puts everyone in home at risk especially children and elderly. Disposing expired or unwanted medication improperly will contaminate the environment for example river which will go to ocean and it will harm the aquatic lives. At the same time, medications returns need to be monitor to avoid waste and also the case where patient not comply with their therapy.

Objectives
1)To determine the reason most given by the patients when returning their unwanted or unused medications.
2)To find out the percentage for all returned medications according to their pharmacological classes as stated in British National Formulary (BNF).
3)To calculate the total cost of medications returned by patients to Out-Patient Pharmacy. Besides that, to estimate the cost of medicines saved reused, and medicines discarded and disposed.

Methodology
Patients came to Out-Patient Pharmacy and bring along their unwanted or unused medications to return it. In-charge pharmacist brought them to counter being set. There, pharmacist took out the medication return form and conducted some short interviewed with the patients. The purpose was to gain the information and data needed in order to achieve the objectives above.
