Abstract

This New Product Development report presents Jelly Plop, a konjac-based, fun, and nutritious jelly snack made from natural tropical fruit extracts—mangosteen, papaya, and rambutan—with no added sugar, artificial colors, or preservatives. Rich in dietary fiber, vitamins A, B, C, collagen peptides, and antioxidants, it supports digestion and skin health. Developed through an NPD framework, Jelly Plop represents an incremental innovation that improves nutritional value and sustainability while utilizing local fruits. Consumer surveys, particularly among university students, highlighted strong interest in its health benefits, tropical flavors, bear-shaped bites, and bright packaging, with price acceptability between RM5–RM7 per pack. Scalable and affordable, Jelly Plop aligns with current trends in clean labeling, low-calorie snacks, and reduced food waste, positioning it as a promising option for health-conscious youth and families.
