Abstract

This research examines the relationship between unemployment rate (UNR), interest rate (ITR), GDP per capita (GPC), inflation rate (INR) and income inequality (GINI) towards the crime rate in Malaysia. In this research, Ordinary Least Square used to examine the result between dependent variable and independent variables. The data are from 1988 until 2017. The result shows that income inequality (GINI) is significant and positive relationship towards crime rate. Next, the GDP per capita (GPC) and interest rate (ITR) are significant and negative relationship towards crime rate. Finally, in this research found that income inequality is the most influencing variable towards crime rate.
