Purchasing Process of Supplies from Abroad of Alam Maritim Resources Berhad has been chosen as the topic of the study as to know more deeply on how the company applying their purchasing process when ordering item from supplier. The company usually takes many processes during the purchasing process. This will be the responsibility of purchasing department to manage the purchasing process when getting the requisition form from the vessel. Besides that, the paper also will discuss the uses of quotations and competitive bidding with the supplier to get the best price to save the cost of the company. There are many reasons of why the company imports products from abroad when the items are not available in domestic (Malaysia). The company will face with many problems when deal with supplier from abroad such as different currency, time delivery, communication and many more that will explain further. During the study, there are several difference steps in purchasing process between AMRB and Cecil model. This can be seen in step 2 which Cecil model also looking for the brand when ordering product but different with AMRB just looking for the availability and price of the item. The company more prefers to buy cheapest product to save cost of the company. There also differences in step 6 which Cecil model will firstly make inspection for the item before make payment to make sure the item delivered is in good condition. The company also practicing centralization and decentralization function when making decision making during purchasing activities.
