Abstract
This study was carried out to identify whether lecturers' quality affects students' interest. Lecturers' quality was measured by 'teacher quality', 'teaching quality', and 'teacher personality'. Students were asked to recall the positive or negative attributes of their accounting lecturers during classes and to determine their preferred attributes. The researchers specifically looked at preferred attributes that influence students' interest. Findings indicate that the attributes presented by lecturers during classes are largely the attributes preferred by the students. The findings also suggest a relationship between preferred lecturer's quality and students' interest. However, it is noted that lecturers' quality is not the sole factor influencing students' interest, as other contributing factors exist, such as students' own motivation and family advice. Furthermore, the findings indicate differences in opinion on the preferred lecturer's attributes between Diploma and Bachelor students.
