Abstract
The previous selection mode of Pharmacy Students in UiTM Puncak Alam is based on academic results, however, in 2016 the selection mode is based on interview selection. The interview supposed to be a great tool toward academic achievement for the faculty. However, some study evaluated various interviewing methods for academic predictors in a program and found that none of the interviews suggestively associated with academic performance (T, 1999).This study focuses on exploring the comparison of academic performance between two modes of student's selection in Faculty of Pharmacy, UiTM Puncak Alam. This study also intended to find out the factor that would make the academic performance vary between the students selected via different selection method. The main data used in this study were raw examination result semester 1 for batch 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 and the questionnaire that were distributed and collected from the student Year 1 until Year 3. The number of respondents involve in this study are 231 students and each of them answering the questionnaire which consist of four part of non-cognitive variable. From this study, the main comparison of academic performance of student was not really significant and the factor that make the academic performance vary between two selection modes of students was also not significant. Based on the result there was no significant difference in term of non-cognitive variable and year of student (Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3). There should be another factor apart from non-cognitive variable being assess and the data of individually academic CGPA should be collected for a more significant comparison of academic performance between two modes of student.
