Abstract

Futsal is an indoor version of football officially governed by FIFA (The Fédération Internationale de Football Association). Its name is derived from the Portuguese 'futebol de salão' and Spanish 'fútbol de salón', both meaning 'football in the hall'. A team consists of five players, including one goalkeeper. Futsal differs from traditional soccer in several key aspects: the playing area is relatively small; the game duration is 20 minutes per half; and the ball used is heavier, which requires players to exert better control. The smaller area compels players to enhance their skills and make quicker decisions. Certain actions, such as a shoulder crash against an opponent, are strictly prohibited as fouls. A distinctive rule is the cumulative foul system: any team accumulating a sixth offense within a single half is penalized with a second penalty kick, and any subsequent foul in that half is also punished with a second penalty.
