Abstract
This study explores the knowledge level among consultants, specifically quantity surveyors, involved in conservation works of heritage buildings in Malaysia. Focusing on the northern region specifically in Kedah, Perak and Pulau Pinang. The research investigates the consultants' expertise in various conservation-related areas, the challenges they face, and potential solutions to enhance their knowledge. A quantitative methodology was employed, using online survey questionnaires distributed to consultants actively engaged in heritage conservation. The data were analyzed by using SPSS software to identify the mean and provide clear ranking systems. The findings indicate that while there is a substantial level of engagement and expertise in contract management, there are significant gaps in construction methods knowledge. The study emphasizes the need for enhanced training and education, government support, and the development of comprehensive guidelines to improve the conservation practices of heritage buildings in Malaysia. Recommendations for future studies include focusing on practical training and interdisciplinary collaboration to bridge the knowledge gaps identified.
