Pilot study: to evaluate the compliance of atrial fibrillation patients with warfarin intake in HTAA, Kuantan

The compliance of atrial fibrillation patients with warfarin intake at MTAC warfarin in Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan, HTAA has been examined to be documented as a guideline for further reference. The study design or the ways the data will be collected are based on ongoing cases within certain period of time. The prospective design will be used, which questionnaire form is prepared to collect data regarding the patient’s compliance. This study seems to be important to obtain statistic from the survey done to the population. Our study project was the Atrial Fibrillation patients who come to the MTAC warfarin of Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan from October to December 2013. The study was done every Friday for only 2 hours. Atrial fibrillation patients were chosen and then we asked for their consent first before continues with compliance assessment. From the 52 questionnaire form we manage to collect, we go through all of it and key in the data into SPSS version 20 software to get the result in table form and also graph form. Expectedly, most of them (96%) are compliance of taking warfarin and aware the risk if not taking warfarin. Instead, this result will help pharmacists to find an alternative way to improve the compliance of atrial fibrillation patients with warfarin intake. It can also maximize the benefits of anticoagulation therapy and minimize the adverse effects and complications resulting from anticoagulation therapy.
