Abstract
Y2Ba4Cu70oδ or Y247 is an YBCO superconductor due to the system of Y123 and Y124. In this study, the porous and nonporous Y247 were prepared using solid-state reaction method, which involves a series of heating and grinding. Superconductor electrical properties such as critical temperature, Tc and critical current density, Jc were determined using the resistivity measurement instruments (4-point probe). Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM) was used to analyze the morphological structure of the material. By using FESEM micrographs formation of large and continuous grains will enhance the effect of current flow caused by grain boundary, resulting the increase of current density, Jc. The critical temperature, Tc (onset) for porous and nonporous Y247 are 99.0K and 100K, respectively. The values for Tc at zero electrical resistance for porous and nonporous sample are 86.0K and 84.0K, respectively. The Jc value at maximum Tc of 70K for porous sample is 0.483 A/cm2, which is slightly higher, compared to nonporous sample that is 0.414 A/cm2.
