Abstract

Good inventory management help maintaining good system management in pharmacy environment. Stock can be classified as fast and slow moving item in order to keep track the movement of the item and its frequency. It is essential in order to make the inventory future plan. A research have been conducted to observe the fast and slow moving injectable medication at In Patient pharmacy in Hospital Pakar Sultanah Fatimah and how it’s can affecting the cost in pharmacy environment. The data are collected from the bin card and the consumption data have been analyzed from year 2015 to 2016 to obtain the result. This research only focuses at injectable medication in In Patient Pharmacy which are 91 total in number. In 2015,there were 12.09% of injectable medications classified as F class while in 2016,the same injectable medications were 14,29% out of 91 injectable medications.Furthermore,injectable medications in 2015 in S class was 37.36% while for 2016,it was 29.67%. Other than that, we found that there were 50.55% injectable medications in 2015 and 56.04% injectable medication in 2016 that were in N class in total from 91 items. Inventory management was important in order to make sure the availability of the injectable medication when needed and there are enough space to keep the injectable medications. Besides, the cost of pharmacy settings can be predicted when we knew which medications should be ordered regularly and which one should be ordered rarely. In a nutshell, all pharmacy’s staff should be aware of the fast and slow moving injectable medication in order to apply a proper good inventory management in pharmacy environment.
