Abstract
The level of knowledge and belief towards medications use among pregnant women is a major concern because pregnancy is a special condition where drug treatment presents a special concern. The objectives of this study are to evaluate the knowledge of medication use and to investigate the beliefs towards medications use during pregnancy among pregnant women. Respondents were selected among the pregnant women from Obstetrics and Gynecology clinic for check-up. Participants were chosen randomly and were asked if they are willing to participate. A total of 197 completed questionnaires were analyzed. From the analysis, about 79 (40%) of the respondent had poor knowledge about medication and only 51 (26%) respondent had good knowledge about medication. It can be concluded that most of the respondent generally have positive belief towards medication. However, they were more concern and cautious in consuming medication throughout their pregnancy. Therefore, health care professional should be alert and be more understanding and considerate when dispensing medication to pregnant women.
