Job satisfaction among pharmacists and pharmacist assistants in Sarawak General Hospital

Jobs satisfaction study is one of common studies that widely done in many countries or state. Jobs satisfaction study is important in ensuring each career to be in the best state for every of their employees. This study aimed to determine the level of satisfaction among pharmacist assistant and pharmacist toward their job function hence suggesting the best way to improve any requirement to gain great satisfaction among the co-workers. This study was a non-randomized, convenience sampling, cross-sectional study conducted in Pharmacy Department in Sarawak General Hospital for four months starting from October 2012 to January 2013. 60 respondents were recruited in this study. This study focused on five elements of individual job satisfaction which is working condition, management and supervison, pay and benefit, professional recognition, and training and personal development. Sets of questionnaire were distributed to everyone who involved in this survey. Given to respondents were five choice of feeling that demonstrate their satisfaction level from very dissatisfied, dissatisfied, neutral, satisfied and very satisfied. Overall, the study showed that most respondents vote neutral and satisfied for most of their answers. However, there were still few respondents who express very dissatisfied feeling towards some of the elements. Those dissatisfaction towards job scope is a highlight for Ministry of Health to take in further consideration upon factors affecting the issues.
