Abstract

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus is a staph bacteria that is often resistant to several types of antibiotic treatment. Most S. aureus is a methicillin susceptible. In general, healthy people with no cuts or wounds have low risk for getting infection. Both adults and children may carry MRSA infection. MRSA infection may cause life-threatening infections to some people. People can get MRSA either by community acquired or hospital acquired. In order to identify if patients are infected with MRSA, MRSA screening will be done, continued with further tests and the patients will be given antibiotics treatment by the doctors or clinician. In this study, a total of 863 samples were sent to the lab for examination and 33 of them were positive with MRSA. MRSA samples were isolated mostly in wound swabs and antibiotic susceptibility testing was done against Vancomycin. The results appeared to be preserved with strategies in preventing the MRSA infection with a strict education and also infection control policy.
