Impression of general public towards pharmacist in General Hospital Melaka

Introduction: Pharmacy is a place where public get their medicine. Pharmacy is one of the branches of health science and every hospital has their own pharmacy setting. Pharmacist is the expertise that highly trained and skilled healthcare professionals. Pharmacist performs various roles such as to deliver and supply the medicine to public. General public is people around us. It includes patients, consumers, professionals and other people. In this study, I would like to know their impression towards the pharmacists.

Objective: To survey and investigate the impression of general public towards the pharmacist in General Hospital Melaka.

Method: A prospective study included the public that came to the Farmasi Klinik Pakar in General Hospital Melaka. The survey was conducted from September 2009. The data were analysed using computer software SPSS 17.0.

Result and Conclusion: The study shows that 72.60% said play important role in hospital, 67.12% agree that pharmacist as important as medical doctor, 87.97% agree that the pharmacist as important as nurse 69.86% agree that the pharmacist highly trained and qualified professional. Therefore, the study shows that the public are aware and have positive impression towards pharmacist.
