Knowledge on safe handling of cytotoxic drugs

Cytotoxic drugs are known likely to cause severe side effects to the exposed personnel. The objective of this study are to evaluate level of knowledge on safe handling of cytotoxic drugs among pharmacy staff in Hospital Pakar Sultanah Fatimah (HPSF), Muar as well as to raise awareness of the pharmacy staff on hazardous of cytotoxic drugs on health care personnel. Our study was conducted in Hospital Pakar Sultanah Fatimah (HPSF), Muar which involved all of the pharmacy staff. They were given a simple set of questionnaire for them to answer. All of the questionnaire that we manage to collect, we go through all of it and key in the data into the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 16.0 software to get the result in table and graph form. The result obtained from the data showed that the subjects do have a good knowledge on safe handling of cytotoxic drugs. However, an appropriate and detail research can be done in the future to assess back staff knowledge.
