Abstract

Slide presentation for "The public and the private, and their implications"

Alongside authentic hadith, the Holy Qur'an is the main source of Islamic legislation. A correct understanding of the Holy Qur'an is equivalent to an understanding of Islamic law. However, it is difficult to understand the meanings of the Holy Qur'an. This also applies to the Sunnah, especially with regard to Islamic law Islamic law. (Um Muti'ah, Al-Wazir Al-Wazir 2024). Understanding legal terminology is essential in the legal process. The methods of specification and generality are among the basic methods. Both methods are key tools for understanding the scope and limits of the law in the Qur'an and Sunnah. It is important to study the linguistic patterns that indicate the breadth and specificity of the origins of Islamic law in depth, because errors in understanding the word ‘general’ or in determining the specificity associated with it may lead to misunderstandings when issuing laws. (Um Muti'ah, Al-Wazir Al-Wazir 2024). This study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the types of terms used in the methods of specification and generality and how they are used. It also aims to improve the accuracy of interpretation and its use in determining legal rulings and understanding the meaning of terms in the context of the methods of specification and generality. (Ibrahim and Al-Wazir 2025).
