Abstract

This project is about a development of a competency system which would match the competency of students with the industry demands. The researches about this problem were done by nine researchers but their tasks were divided according to computer sciences program that offers in faculty. The development of system by using Ruby on Rails also has been divided by 3 main tasks in the development according to Ruby on Rails MVC Framework.This research were done because of the highly percentage of unemployed Computer Sciences Graduates in Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences in University Technology Mara. Main causes of the problem because of graduates skills did not match with industrial standard so that they are not easily hired by industry. By having this problem statement, the research has objective in order to help graduates in the future which are to identify technical skills expected by the industry based on Bachelor Of Computer Sciences (Hons) Netcentric Computing graduate’s job opportunities which is the program is the scope for this research, to identify the user requirement for student competency system, to design a system that can map the industry needs and university supplies and to develop a system that can map the industry needs and university supplies. With the development of the system, computer sciences students will be evaluate by the supervisor and industry supervisor during the class and also practical for every semester. From the evaluation, the students will know their skills and understanding of the subjects they learn in every semester. The student will then be recommended their suitable jobs and skills required for the jobs. The system will also provide industries access to find students that met their requirement to fit a role in their organizations.
