Abstract

Resistance microorganism is on the rise with new resistant strains keep on emerging. Current effective drug treatment already started to loss its effective against antimicrobial resistance microorganism. Therefore, it is necessary to search for a new drug to kill resistance microorganisms with less toxicity and side effect to human body. In this study, the antimicrobial activity of marine endophytic fungi extract fractions (MV3%, CN 3% and ED 3%) isolated from three species oflocal seaweeds Graci/aria arcuata Zanardini, Graci/aria coronopifolia JAgrdh and Acanthophora spicifera respectively were investigated. HPLC profiling were conducted to obtained the extract fractions by using a reverse phase C 18 column with standard flow rate of 1 ml/min. The study was conducted in triplicate manner in which by treating the extract fractions with Gram negative Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Gram positive Staphylococcus aureus and fungi strain of Trichophyton rubrum. The viability were assessed by measuring the absorption at 600nm by using microplate reader and the active fractions were compared with related chromatogram to identify the bioactive region of marine endophytic fungi extract fractions. The result obtained shows antimicrobial activity of those fractions against selected strains Gram negative Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Gram positive Staphylococcus aureus and fungi strain of Trichophyton rubrum.
