Abstract

Slide Presentation: “The absolute and the restricted, and their meanings”

Legal provisions are sometimes referred to as absolute in relation to ordinary individuals who are not bound by nature or circumstance, and at other times they are referred to as being linked to something in addition to the universal truth of their nature or condition. Thus, the term “absolute” conveys a broad meaning without being bound by any specific restriction or condition. Then, limited words are those accompanied by specific restrictions, whether in the form of qualities, conditions, or provisions.

Definition of absolute.
Absolute linguistically: opposite of restricted.
Terminologically: it is a specific term that refers to a common individual and is not restricted to any particular characteristic, such as: man, book, bird, student, and Arab.

These are terms that refer to a common individual of its kind. It is a term that refers to a common meaning within its genus. In other words, it is a term that refers to an individual or unspecified individuals without any verbal restriction, such as man and men, book and books.
