Abstract

Bintang Field is a gas field located at 137 miles offshore Terengganu in Northern of Malay Basin. This paper will discuss the reservoir characteristics-lithology, shale volume, porosity and water saturation; of Bintang Field by using sets of log data-gamma ray, neutron, density and resistivity; interpretation using a Techlog software to fulfill its objective and produce a petrophysical model using Techlog software. Bintang Field consists of 9 wells which is Melor 1, Melor 2, Melor 3, Melor 4, Melor 5, Melor 6, Melor 6, Melor 7, Melor 8 and Melor 9. Zone O of the field’s formation have consistent hydrocarbon presence in all wells which is the lithology of the zone is a sandstone. Based on all the results, Zone O of well Melor 2 has the ideal reservoir characteristics among all other Zones O as it has lithology of sandstone, lowest shale volume of 0.48995 highest effective porosity of 0.13474 and lowest water saturation as calculated using Simandoux equation which is 0.24840.
