Abstract

6 Samples of pellet is prepared (A,B,C,D,E,F) having different ratio of Naproxen: com starch. OCA l 5EC is used in order to measure the contact angle. The contact angle is measured at upper detectable, lower detectable, 0.5s and ls. The surface thermodynamics parameter such as surface energy and work of adhesion is measured from the contact angle. The addition of com starch reduce contact angle for almost all sample and this can be explained by increasing in hydrophilicity of samples. It is observed that Sample C which has 80:20 ratio of Naproxen to com starch has the best combination in terms parameters of surface thermodynamics. Sample C has the lowest contact angle which relate to high surface energy and work of adhesion. The result from wetting envelope and work of adhesion-isoline also show changes with the addition of com starch. Thus, it proves that com starch increasing the wettability of Naproxen.
