Abstract
Arundina graminifolia is a terrestrial plant belonging to Orchidacea. It is a species that belong to all different varieties of Arundina collected throughout Peninsular Malaysia. The common name of A. graminifolia is the bamboo orchid. It is also synonym to Arundina bambusifolia, and Cymbidium bambusifolium. This study investigated the probability of inducing callus in Arundina graminifolia. There were several of explants type (root, shoot and leaf) and plant growth regulators (1-naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) and 6-benzoaminopurine (BAP)) tested on callus formation of Arundina graminifolia (in vitro). Results showed that the explants source and different concentrations of growth regulators influenced callus production. The leaf, shoot and root were cultured in Murashige and Skoog's basal medium with different concentrations of BAP (0, 1, 2, and 4 mg/L) and NAA (0, 1, 2, and 4 mg/L). Based on the results, the shoot was a better explant than root and leaf to produce callus. 2 mg/L of BAP and 1 mg/L of NAA induced more callus on
