A survey on public official’s awareness towards anti-corruption act 1997 in Malaysia

Corruption has recently become a major issue in Malaysia and whole countries. Its may give bad impact to the economy of the country as well as the behavior of the person. In this research, we focus on the awareness of the public official toward Corruption Act 1997 that has been use in Malaysia. The study has been made at five Government entities around Alor Gajah, Malacca which is Police Station, Police Traffic, Municipal Council, Land and District Office and Jabatan Kerja Raya (JKR) which investigates from various level of position to know their feedback toward corruption. Besides, we also focus on the level knowledge of public officials whether they understand the contents of Corruption Act 1997 and their reaction when corruption happens. Moreover, in collecting the data we use questionnaire methods and distributed it to 100 respondents. In addition, the methods that we using is random sampling technique which means we have distributed the questionnaire randomly to all the employees in these selected agencies. By using analysis generated by SPSS (Computerized Statistical Software) results are analyze by using frequency, descriptive statistic, correlation and cross tabulation. Finally, from the finding it can be conclude that public official really aware with the Anti Corruption Act 1997.
