Abstract
The course provides comprehensive knowledge and theories in Dental Public Health (DPH) at a specialist level. This course of DPH covers all aspects of dental public health. This course is made up of three main component, the theory component, the clinical component and the residency component. This course includes lectures, seminars, practical sessions and journal club. All dental public health advanced knowledge is introduced in this course throughout the programme. The theory module focuses on core issues and prepares graduates for application of fundamental skills in public health settings The clinical component allows graduates be trained in clinical preventive dentistry. This course also concentrates on clinical works with certain requirement to ensure the graduates are capable carrying out professional duties in the field of clinical preventive dentistry and to work in a multidisciplinary setting. During the third year, this course will concentrate on a residency programme where the concepts presented via the theory module are integrated and assimilated through an internship, which provides an opportunity for each student to apply his or her knowledge in a practice setting. The combination of these 3 components gives a wide exposure and a robust education to prepare graduates for a career as a dental public health specialist upon graduation.
