Abstract

This research has aim to estimate the relationship of capital structure and the bank performance that listed in Bank Negara Malaysia. The data is collected from 16 conventional bank and Islamic bank. The duration of this research is from year 2011 until year 2016. This research data has been run in the Stata12 with use the panel data since it is appropriate model. The independent variable in this research is Short Term Debt to Total Asset (STDTA), Long Term Debt to Total Asset (LTDTA), Total Debt to Total Asset (TDTA) and Total Debt to Total Equity (TDTE). The Dependent variable of research is Return on Asset (ROA) and Return on Equity (ROE) as the measurement of bank performance. This variable is combination from the previous research variable. The data for the variable is taking from the secondary data which is from annual report of the listed companies than using the formula to get ratio. The main finding of this research found that capital structure has impact toward the bank performance that is conventional bank and Islamic bank.
