BHS415 : Pathophysiology for health sciences / Faculty of Health Science

This course is offered to all health sciences programs which may require knowledge on disease mechanisms. Topics are divided into two categories: general disease mechanisms (including inflammation, tissue injuries and healing processes, neoplasia and genetics influence on diseases) and systemic disease mechanisms which cover all the systems in the body (including gastrointestinal tracts and its accessory organs, endocrine, cardiovascular and respiratory systems). Class sessions will include lectures and discussion while students will be assessed for their cognitive and soft skills abilities (critical thinking and teamwork). Cognitive assessment consists of two tests and one final examination paper. The soft skills assessment will be in the form of a written assignment or case studies and a group project.
