Abstract
This e-book critically evaluates the Safe Sports Code of Malaysia in the context of the track and field events sector. The authors assert their opinions on the fundamental principles outlined in the code, faulting its ability with regards to providing safety to athletes, ethical behavior, and general welfare in track and field competitions. Through a thorough opinion-based analysis, the authors elicit strengths and weaknesses of the code, questioning its practicability, implementation, and enforcement within the sport. Various aspects, such as athlete protection, accountability of coaches, anti-harassment policy, and fair play policy, are thoroughly analyzed. Aside from criticism, the e-book also offers constructive suggestions and potential improvements to enhance the effectiveness of the Safe Sports Code in responding to the needs of athletes, coaches, and sports administrators in track and field. Some of these suggestions include more detailed guidelines, stricter enforcement procedures, education programs for athletes, and better reporting channels. This e-book is an exploratory study intended for stakeholders in sport, policymakers, and academics who wish to enhance and reinforce Malaysia's safe sport environment in order to ultimately foster a safer and more ethical sport environment.
