Abstract

The study of physical properties was performing on rambutan pachat tree (Xerospermum spp.). Physical properties of rambutan pachat were determined by moisture content, density, specific gravity, shrinkage and swelling. The objectives of this study were to determine the physical properties of rambutan pachat, to compare the moisture content, density and specific gravity according to its portions (bottom, middle and top) and to compare shrinkage and swelling according to its portions (bottom, middle and top) and wood directions (tangential, radial and longitudinal). From this research, the result of physical properties of rambutan pachat could be used as basic properties for further study in order to utilize this material.
