Abstract

Pokok Kekabu (Ceiba pentandra) is tested by chemically to find the percentage of ash, alcohol benzene and lignin contents according to difference parts of tree which is at bottom, middle and top parts. This level was measure from base and 80 % of bole high. These are accordance the TAPPI standard. In our thesis the ash, an alcohol benzene and lignin content for three levels is difference. Ash content was state higher is middle level 2.63 %. For the alcohol benzene content was higher at middle level with 91.59 %. Meanwhile, the state higher for lignin is top level at 34.88 %. Lignin must be removed because it can make lower quality of paper and color reaction can occur when reaction with sun. Besides, the papers become more brittle.
