Abstract
Construction sites are always associated with accidents, no matter fatal accidents or minor accidents. Some said, it is a suicidal to work in a construction site. Regulations have been enforced; “Safety First” has been widely promoted. However, there are still high number of accidents happened in construction site. There are many kinds of accidents in construction site, such as falling from high places and hit by construction vehicles. Accidents involving construction vehicles recorded the second highest among all types of accidents. The causes behind the accidents are mainly the unsafe acts practised by the workers and also the condition of site. To find the causes of the accidents, few case studies were selected and visited. Interviews were conducted with safety officers and officers from Department of Safety and Health (DOSH). Questionnaires were distributed to the construction workers and were analysed. From the analysis, it was found that unsafe acts and poor site condition are really the factors of why accidents involving construction vehicles still happen in the construction site. Recommendations such as improving site condition and improving the safety policy are recommended. In conclusion, the objective of this study is achieved, where the current legislative matters are already obtained, factors contributing to the accidents of accidents involving construction vehicles were identified and lastly, recommendation suggested.
