GPS-based nearby places finder mobile application using android / Nur Hikmah Mat Zuki

In this modern era, there are many restaurants, schools and hospitals were built around us. But, some people especially tourists or a novice did not familiar with where they are. Even there are some of them that are willing to have dinner at the restaurant further from their residence while there is another franchise nearby. Same goes to the hospitals and schools. People tend to travel such a long distance from their place to go to the hospital while there are many hospitals nearby that they did not know. The purpose of this project is to provide the user time saving mobile application that can help them to find nearby places right away. Tourist or people who are not familiar with certain places having a hard time on finding nearby services such as hospitals, schools and restaurants from their current location. Other than that, users faced some difficulty on gaining full information about the place such as address, latitude, longitude and etc. Next, users need to use third party application to show direction from user’s location to destination. The purpose of this project is to develop a mobile application that is able to detect user’s current location in real-time using Global Positioning System (GPS) signal and display it on the map using Google Maps API. Other than that to design a mobile application that can find nearby places such as hospitals, schools and restaurants using Google Places API based on user’s current location and display it on the map. Besides that, to test a mobile application that can display information window about the place that contains the full address, longitude and latitude so user does not need to browse to gain the same information. The result of this project is called ‘GPS-Based Nearby Places Finder Mobile Application Using Android’ which is a mobile application that is developed to help users to find nearby places especially hospital, school and restaurant using GPS.
