Abstract

According to Emilia Mikolajewska, a researcher stated that we need to pay particular attention to the design and selection of wheelchairs, including active wheelchairs. Next, Isa Bin Tahir, as a wheelchair user, said that sitting on a wheelchair for a longer period of time causes back pain. Based on the problem statements above, we decided to produce the Massager wheelchair, an advanced design aimed at enhancing the lives of individuals with mobility challenges. Recognizing the common discomforts such as back pain and joint fatigue associated with extended wheelchair use, the Massager wheelchair incorporates innovative features to alleviate these issues. Through its built-in massage system, users can now experience therapeutic relief while seated, effectively reducing the strains experienced during prolonged periods in the chair. Additionally, the inclusion of a GPS tracker enhances safety and independence by enabling realtime location sharing with caregivers, ensuring peace of mind for all parties involved. Moreover, strategically positioned lights on the wheelchair enhance visibility, thereby improving safety in low-light conditions. Initial findings indicate a significant improvement in user comfort, autonomy, and safety with the integration of these intelligent features. By surpassing conventional mobility assistance, the Massager wheelchair showcases the transformative potential of assistive devices in enhancing user well-being.
