Abstract
This study aims to identify the problem of student mastery in the end rhyme of Malay two-line poems. The processing of high-quality poems requires finding the final rhyme, maintaining the order of words, choosing appropriate symbols, and selecting the right words to convey ideas and thoughts effectively, while also achieving the desired impact on the audience. Mastering this skill is essential for an individual to fully grasp the Malay language's elements. Therefore, the implementation of PaW is intended to help students master the rhyme at the end of Malay two-line poems. This qualitative study adapts the Jean McNiff Model. The researcher developed an intervention called PaW, which combines elements of line, shape, and space in its structural construction. PaW focuses on following grammatical rules in the arrangement of words for each line of a perfect poem. Using a sampling method, a total of five Year 6 students from a school in the Iskandar Puteri district of Johor, who experienced difficulties mastering the rhyme at the end of Malay two-line poems, were selected. The instruments used include initial and final tests, observations, and interviews, and the data collected will be analyzed descriptively. The findings show that the students' level of proficiency in writing the rhyme at the end of Malay two-line poems improved after applying PaW. In conclusion, this study can serve as a reference for Malay teachers in creating an effective teaching and learning process for syntactic aspects, particularly for writing skills and language arts.
