Abstract
Poverty is an important measure of the economic well being of a country. Poverty could be defined with different meanings in different places. Poverty is usually thought of as a lack of income, because it is income that is largely assumed to determine one's material well-being. Poverty can be determined by using the Poverty Line Income as a measurement. PLI is updated annually on the basis of the Consumer Price Index. Therefore, this research explores the relationship between factors and the extent of poverty in Machang, Kelantan. The researcher was choosing the level of education, family size, and employment status as a factor that want to be explores either these variables will give the affect or not to the level of poverty in Machang, Kelantan. A study has been using 142 household who earn income less than RM1000 per month. The questionnaires were distributed to get the data from the respondents. The findings will assist the Government of Malaysia to implemented several programs and strategies to tackle the problems of poverty in future.
