Abstract

This action research is conducted to identify the effectiveness of cooperative learning approach in improving students’ writing skills performance. A group of 30 year three students of Sekolah Kebangsaan Kubang Golok, was chosen as the experimental group. Data for the research were collected through questionnaire, pre-test and posttest. The results showed that the cooperative learning structures is an effective approach that helps to increase students’ writing performance. Students have demonstrated positive change of attitude towards learning the writing skills after being engaged in an active learning session. Researcher acquired positive results after the intervention experiment was conducted and there was an increase in grades and attitudes showed. In conclusion, the cooperative learning structures has successfully created students engagement in small heterogeneous groups to work together to solve problems, complete tasks and achieve their learning goals.
