Abstract

Social well-being can be described as the sharing, developing, and sustaining of meaningful relationships with others. Generally, social well-being is important to serve as a key country development indicator. Without awareness, development, and maintenance of our social wellbeing, we run the risk of becoming socially isolated. This article identifies global trends in social well-being study using Scopus database, from where 804 published articles from 1938 until 2023. Successively, a bibliometric analysis was implemented by absolute counts using Bibliometric harzing and perish and Vos-viewer software. We propose dividing the findings into three levels: i) descriptive analysis of the publication, ii) scientific relevance, and iii) analytical co-occurrence. As a result, there is steady increase in the number of publication/ articles published, especially for the period 2014 - 2023 which can be explained by the growth of work in areas such as social science, medicine, and psychology. Top three source title are Social Indicators Research, International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health and Frontiers in Psychology. This study used Scopus database for bibliometric analysis specifically using Bibliometric Harzing and Perish as well as Vos-viewer software. Therefore, the articles related to social well-being in other databases were not included. This study is essential because it can make it easier for researchers to concentrate their time on researching topics that have not yet been thoroughly investigated. Our work highlights the importance of research produced in countries such as United States and United Kingdom while exposing the low productivity are Ukraine, Uruguay, and Vietnam with single publication from each country.
