Abstract
Our country has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic which has also impacted the whole world. The communities including university students were forced to embrace the new norms in their daily lives. Teaching and learning (T&L) methods at higher education institutions (HEI) underwent a drastic change. The new norms had forced the higher education community to immediately move to teaching and learning online. The change from face-to-face to virtual learning had caused problems among students mentally and physically. Thus, the Student Affairs Division of Faculty of Applied Sciences, FSG, took the initiative to curb these problems by encouraging students' societies to continue with academic and non-academic activities. This could help reduce anxiety and stress amongst students. The efforts received full support from the top management of the faculty in ensuring that the students remain calm and able to focus on their studies. Throughout 2020, a total of 65 student activities were approved and conducted online. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, strong cooperation from the Sekretariat Mahasiswa Fakulti (SMF) and 14 students’ societies led by Majlis Perwakilan Pelajar (MPP) had successfully organized activities at faculty, university, national and international levels. Prior to the first Movement Control Order (MCO) was announced, the faculty’s MPP and SMF had already taken the initiative to produce sanitizer for students and staff use.
