Product layout used by eastern and western companies; similarities and differences / Mohd Rizuwan Mamat and Rosman Abdul Rahman

First of all, our research titled “Product Layout Used by the Western and Eastern Companies; Similarity and Differences”. Our project’s objective is wanted to know the type of the system in producing products. We also want know and learn about the effectiveness and the performance for the system in that company. Furthermore we want to expand our understanding about the layout system that is used by the eastern and western companies. Beside, we want to make an analysis of the manufacturing system focusing on the product layout. In making this research we have to find the data by the literature reviews which means reading, surfing from Internet and make an analysis. We will make analysis from the data that we got from the industrial visit. The discussion that we make from this analysis will answer the objective of our research. However this conclusion is not actually for all western and eastern companies in Malaysian. This is because there are also the companies that use the process layout in their layout of production. From the industrial visit that we have made before, we can conclude that all of the companies that we have visited using “product layout” as their layout of production. This is because the product layout gives these companies many advantages for their production and also productivity. In this research, we also include the factor for productivity and also the cause for low productivity. This explanation and the analysis that we make hopefully will several the scarcities of a certain companies in make an improvement for themselves.
