Abstract
Nowadays, manufacturing sector is widely developed in Malaysia. But to compare the development in Malaysia and in Japan and in Europe is very too far. This is because, in Malaysia the manager of a factory is like to gain profit than productivity. So them like to use conventional system in their factory. Other wise in Japan and Europe, their like to plan the best way to get high productivity and the same time to get profit. So, the use the latest technology that purpose in their factory. That means the manager in Japan and Europe is open minded to think their future. There are many technology are developed now such as CAD (computer aided design), CAM (computer aided manufacturing, AGV (automated guided vehicle), RP (rapid prototyping) and etc. One of them is Flexible manufacturing system (FMS). Many big factories in Japan and Europe are using application of FMS in their factory. In Malaysia, only 30% use the application of FMS. For the future not impossible all factory in world will use this FMS. So, if the are many manager like to gain profit and not consider the latest technology like now, manufacturing sector in Malaysia will be left behind and can’t to stand same high with Japan and Europe standard. So this research is to tell the long-term benefits and advantages of FMS and that will be guideline to develop it in Malaysia.
