Abstract

Right before the World War II, the Immigration Department organized surveillance and inspection work which involve the travellers and travel documents at the entrance points. During that time, the managerial centre was stationed in Singapore and they were located in Penang which is also the main entrance point into Malaya. Other entry points were Changloon, Padang Besar, Kroh and Port Sweetenham. The Senior Officer of the Malayan Civil Service who held the title ‘Immigration Officer of the Straits Settlement and Federated Malay State’ managed matter regarding the immigration. The said man was aided by a person who real job is a police office, but at that time is the Deputy Immigration Officer, in which he was temporarily seconded to the post. Immigration Department was known as The Refugees and Disposal Bureau after the World War II, which was located in Kuala Lumpur and administered by a British Military Administration Officer. Their main function was to bring the citizen of Malaysia which stranded in other countries due to the World War II back to Malaysia (Immigration Department of Malaysia, 2016).
