Abstract

Quay crane is a front line and important equipment of one port. The performance of this equipment can affect the ship turn around time. The performance of this equipment also represents the performance of the port as a whole. The purpose of this study is to determine whether the number of quay cranes at Klang Port Container Terminal and its performances can meet the challenges in the future. The study proved that the present volume of post-panamax quay cranes at Klang Port Container Terminal are not sufficient to meet the challenges in the future compare to the development of post-panamax quay cranes at other main container terminals in this region including Singapore.
