Abstract

This study focused on the perception of among undergraduate students on the usage of ICT in their studies at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), Nilai. By doing this research, ICT can give benefit for students including effective communication, material, e-mail exchange, and online discussion. We used systematic sampling Descriptive research describes the relationship between ICT and attitude of student using ICT in learning process and also relationship between perception undergraduate students about the level of literacy uses an ICT in learning. We found that, there are no comparison between female and male because they have same level of literacy. We found also that the students use the Internet mostly for e-mail, information search and online chatting. Further analysis revealed that most of the students use the internet to search information to complete their assignment. The study showed that students were generally favorable towards ICT. Older students were more interested in using ICT only as a supplement to teaching activities. The results revealed that students are more favorable toward ICT usage and the students that scored high at using computer were more likely to find that the use of ICT's help them at their studies with various ways. While the collected quantitative data revealed that students believed that interacting with ICT was pleasant, helpful and easy, the qualitative findings showed that some experienced feelings of anxiety and intimidation when working through the ICT interaction. Planned follow up studies will continue to investigate the causalities and relationships between variables to determine likely influences on ICT interaction behavior. The findings suggest high usage of and positive attitudes toward ICT among tertiary level students.
