Abstract

This course is designed to help students in the theory, process, and techniques of lighting design. Topics will include: the principles and methodologies of lighting design, the development of a design concept, and script analysis from the designer's perspective, drafting and plotting techniques, colour, and effects, as well as making 3-D representations of lighting designs through lighting designer digital software. This course is intended to acquaint students with the elements of theatrical design and is particularly suited for those who have had some experience working in the theatre on or concert hall. Students will be informed about each area of theatre organisation and lighting design relationship including scenery; costume; sound; and properties, discuss the development of design concept in the context of production, and finally putting the design on the stage.
