Abstract

This course aims to facilitate the understanding and practice of ethical values in the present digital society and to prepare the students become trustworthy and professional digital technology users. Relevant current issues, challenges and impacts that permeate the spectrum of digital technologies will be discussed; among others, security and trust, privacy, social media, online gaming, cybercrime and piracy. This course then presents the worldview of ethics in the context of the digital society, both from the universal and religious perspectives, and including from the Islamic worldview. Lastly, it also discusses the impacts of the digital automation and emergent technologies on society, values cultures, changing work practices and professional skill requirement.
