Abstract
This course provides a broad and general introduction to aspects and features of human language. It is hoped that the knowledge about the various sub-fields of language and linguistics will enable students to have a greater understanding of how a language works and its importance in language teaching. Students are expected to apply the given knowledge in the classroom particularly in the teaching of the English language. This course also serves as a prerequisite for advanced linguistics courses.
